Experiencing First Hand

Sounds awesome Tom. Keep up the research into physical mediumship I think it's a very important area. As you may remember I attended a David Thompson seance and my mind came away very confused. I guess the biggest problem is that we humans like to 'SEE' things to believe them. It seems anything done in total darkness no matter how convincing can leave one unfulfilled. If you are lucky enough to have personal validation from a loved one that's another thing. I'm really excited at the possibility of one day attending a physical seance in red light and actually seeing materialization and ectoplasm. Keep up the good work Tom, it's appreciated. Eric.

There is no doubt that being able to see what is going on in the seance room is important. Without that visual input, there is very little that one can say to convince our mind or skeptics that there is genuine phenomena.

I like Victor Zammit's view. He has sat with David Thompson many times and has conducted "research" on a par with what virtually all of the academically trained parapsychologists might conduct. Below is an article we expect to include in an upcoming NewsJournal. The article might help explain why he is so supportive of David. Victor's conclusions are that David's phenomena is genuine and that the most important form of evidence are the reunions--as you say.

An interesting bit of human nature is the tendency to experience astounding phenomena, be impressed by it, but in a short while wonder why there is no evidence of paranormal phenomena. It is as if there is a mechanism in our personality that says, "if it didn't happen today, then it cannot be real." It may be an evolved protective mechanism for the body but it seems to be one of the reasons Skeptics are so immune to proof. I have often seen this tendency with students in metaphysical or healing classes.

Our Spiritualist church is hosting David Thompson in Christine Morgan in March and we are preparing ourselves for a lot of explaining about the darkness. An interesting thing to watch for is that Skeptics insist David researches sitters beforehand. This time, he will only know there of us. Will he bring in a loved one with important evidence for a complete stranger? I should say as well that, like Stewart Alexander, David, with his spirit team, is working very hard to produce "spirit light" during seances so that the sitters can see the phenomena.

When I first attended David’s session, I knew there were afterlife entities who were making contact with us. I already had sixteen years of afterlife investigation when I first sat with David. That when, with David’s expressly stated permission, some of us decided to do a major investigation of David. In fact I – and others – including a former Australian Security Intelligence Organisation operative (the equivalent of your MI5), a psychologist with professional expertise in Scientific Methodology and myself with professional expertise in the admissibility of evidence tested David consistently for fifteen months. We couldn’t break him! We could prove that entities were materializing, but that did not mean we could say that we had any physical evidence that they were who they claim to be.

The definitive evidence we obtained was that afterlife entities were materializing. So much so, I challenged the hard-lined skeptics the sum of $500,000 if they could prove fraud, or if they could duplicate what David was doing; materializing afterlife entities. Now you would think that if the skeptics were 100% sure nothing was happening they would have taken me on, but they didn’t; they ran away because they knew I was very serious and assertive about the matter.

Our investigations of David showed that we were certain there were afterlife entities present: William, Tim and Louis Armstrong. BUT we never said that these entities proved they were who they claimed to be. I told those who came through – energies calling themselves William, Tim, Houdini, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Quentin Crisp and others – that we would call them by whatever name they liked to be called. That’s still the situation today, but we never unconditionally accepted they were who they claimed to be. No one in the Circle of the Silver Cord (COSC) ever said otherwise.

David passed all the stringiest tests we applied. Just a few things we did – which were reported in my weekly reports in the past: holding David’s ankle throughout the session and another time holding his gag when William spoke to us from the other side of the room. We had very special three inch tape used over his mouth and we then put, in red ink, a line from his lower eyes right down to the jaw and over the tape. The tape was of a special kind. If it was removed, it would not stick on again.

Voice tests were conducted and gave us a definitive prima facie case that the voice of William is not the same as David’s. But we hope to do more forensic audio testing. Over the fifteen months, we were most confident that the voices were not the same. There were a couple of sessions which were held in red light, where on two occasions we witnessed ectoplasm being exuded from David’s mouth. Photos were taken of this. An American from a big communication company using a special hi-fi video camera was able to record William. The reproduction was not very clear, but one could clearly see the outline of William. That video was put on the Circle of the Silver Cord over a year ago. To my knowledge, no modern physical or materialization medium (were reunions are taking place) ever held sessions in the light or even red light. I made inquiries about this and those I asked said they operate in total darkness.

But the most stunning evidence: comes from the reunions. Those from the other side materialize and meet up with loved ones. We witnessed over ninety reunions. Some materialized entities spoke with soft voice, but others for reasons I do not know, come with a strong voice. The most impressive evidence is when you hear two loved ones (or two who knew each other well) speak to each other about different things, no one in the session present knows about, and be specific about times and places. For example, when a former SNU president Gordon Higginson came through, he came with a lot of confidence with a full, high resonant voice and corrected Ken Pretty, the Spiritualist leader in New Zealand, as to which Spiritualist church they last met when Gordon and Ken were in England. My younger sister came through. Before she crossed over, we discussed some important family matters and her health. Some of this we talked about when she came through, but no one knew in the session what we were talking about. Certainly David didn’t know anything about the details I talked to my sister about. My partner’s father came through. He too raised issues of the time my partner was a child. No one on earth knew about that of course. He crossed over some fifty years ago.
