How Membership and Donations Are Used
Who we are Association TransCommunication is not a hauntings investigation club, nor is it involved with the study of such frontier subjects as UFOs, crop circles, cryptozoology and ancient cultures. The best way to describe the Association is to say that it is about the study of survival of personality beyond transition out of this lifetime and the reality in which it continues to exist. To conduct this study, all forms of trans-etheric influences are considered so long as they are objective. In other words, we study phenomena such as EVP, precipitation and materialization so long as it can be experienced by multiple people in an objective form using the five physical senses.
The Organization ATransC is registered in the USA as a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit, educational organization. As such, it must be publicly funded and is required to submit annual IRS statements that demonstrate this support. Tom and Lisa Butler are the directors. They do not receive pay for their work in behalf of the Association, and most of their expenses and travel costs in behalf of the Association are paid from their personal funds. There are a few people who volunteer to help, such as Loretta Woodward for proofreading the NewsJournal and Margaret Downey for watching over the Idea Exchange. Virtually all of the money that come to the Association is used to support its mission.
Publications Member support has made this atransc.org website possible, and has enabled ATransC to conduct important research into the nature of these phenomena. It also supports publication of the ATransC NewsJournal that contains important articles about people’s experiences and advances in understanding in these phenomena.
Survival Hypothesis A view of what the survival of personality beyond physical death means and how transcommunication occurs has been evolving based on research, experimentation and experiences reported by members. This view has become so different from mainstream thought—even the mainstream paranormal community—that we now refer to the hypotheses we work with as the ATransC Survival Hypotheses. This would not have happened without member support.
Research ATransC has conducted three online EVP listening studies and one radio-sweep study, and an online visual perception study has just been completed. As of September 2010, a Phantom Voices study is underway seeking to determine how common it is for people to hear voices in just noise. All of these studies are providing important references for determining the objectivity of these phenomena. When considered with other sources of information, they are also helping to better define the ATransC Survival Hypothesis.
The Gathering Information Using EVPmaker with Allophones study is underway. This study is designed to provide a second data point to supplement the Windbridge study already funded with your help. It will also help us determine the feasibility of developing a digital EVP platform that can also function as a node in a new global consciousness array. Again, this would not be possible without your support. Certainly, the development of the platform will not happen without member support.
The Rhine Research Center is planning a study to determine how "EVP" reported from radio-sweep is heard. ATransC Is funding portions of this study via the Sarah Estep Research Fund.
The Directors have been participating in a weekly development circle we call the Socrates Circle with the objective of developing physical phenomena of the nature produced by the Circle of the Silver Cord (David Thompson) and the Felix Experimental Group. The Butlers have been invited to sit in on these circles, as well as a rarely held Stewart Alexander circle. (They attend these circles using their personal funds.) With this background study, they hope to use the Socrates Circle as a test bed to provide a better foundation of understanding for the ATransC Survival Hypothesis. Yes, it would be unlikely to happen without your support.
More research projects targeted at improving understanding of survival and transcommunication are being planned. All of this is limited by funding and member participation, so you can see, ATransC membership is not just about you receiving a NewsJournal. It is also about your support of the larger community by supporting ATransC efforts to bring these phenomena into the mainstream of our society.
